Alcione Negrão Ostorga is a Professor in the Department of Bilingual and Literacy Studies at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. She has nearly 40 years of experience as an educator at various levels. Her research focus has been on the preparation of teachers with special emphasis on the development of teacher agency, critical reflection and the development of border pedagogies for the preparation of Latinx preservice teachers. She has also authored a book titled, The Right to Teach: Creating Spaces for Teacher Agency.
I presented the book at the Delta Kappa Gamma organization for Key Women Educators. The meeting of the Mission/McAllen Chapter was held in Weslaco, Texas. The presentation included a lively discussion and book signing for the members present.
