Alcione Negrão Ostorga is a Professor in the Department of Bilingual and Literacy Studies at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. She has nearly 40 years of experience as an educator at various levels. Her research focus has been on the preparation of teachers with special emphasis on the development of teacher agency, critical reflection and the development of border pedagogies for the preparation of Latinx preservice teachers. She has also authored a book titled, The Right to Teach: Creating Spaces for Teacher Agency.
